Such a good, professional con...

Posted on 2013.11.11 at 11:17
Long story short, here's a fun drama-filled comment thread about the con. It sucked, I'm not going to update any more about it (want to know? check my facebook)qmcdrama

We did it :D

We got married today :D & I rick-rolled Sal in my vows

Here's the vows I wrote - "Every fairy tale pales in comparison to the reality we have. Every love story falls short of what we share.
You understand me, look after me, & make me feel safe, like no one else ever could. You make every day I'm with you an adventure.
You're my best friend, & the best thing to ever happen to me. I don't ever want to have to give you up. I'll do whatever I can to never let you down. & I promise I will never run around & desert you.
Words are inadequete to express my feelings for you, so instead I'll show you. By spending the rest of my life devoted to you."

Pics are up on Facebook

So it's pretty much official - I've stopped using LJ

A lot of it has to do with the lack of feedback. No one uses LJ anymore, & that means no comments.
I miss the days when I'd post something, & someone would comment, & it would get into this big huge discussion. But, now I have facebook for that

ah, who am I kidding? I rarely get comments anywhere

ANYWAY... if you want to keep up with me, I'm pretty active on Facebook now

& I'm trying to get more active on my main Tumblr

AND I've started a tumblr for when Sal & I are actually living on the road

so, yeah, lots of option if you want to keep in touch. Plus there's always e-mail.

Road Trip Update

Posted on 2013.04.14 at 14:56
triprouteSo Sal & I went on a road trip this past weekend. It was a lot of fun, & Facebook heard about it.

Here's the photos - https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151481738711263.1073741825.654911262&type=1

Thursday they were calling for an ice storm, but we didn't see any ice until Friday morning. The power went out around 9am, but the rain was done so we started packing up the van. By noon, the power was back on & we were mostly ready to leave. We did some running around in town (signed up for CAA, did some groceries) & then we took off
We went up to Peterborough, but Sal's still not comfortable with the van, so he has trouble staying centered in his lane.
We got to Peterborough & went to the mall, browsed around, then found a mini-plaza with a Michaels & an XS Cargo. I got 5 pounds of gummy worms, & Sal got a bunch of wooden creatures to paint.
We ended up sleeping in the Wal-mart parking lot. I had an anxiety attack about driving the next day, because weekends are usually really busy & we were in a strange town, but everything worked out fine.
Of course, because of my anxiety attack, my stomach felt like crap all night (& most of the next day), & twice in the middle of the night I walked about 3 blocks to the Tim Hortons. Yup, I walked through a strange neighborhood in a strange town, alone, at 3am. I doesn't afraid of anything :P

The next day we drove down to that Tim Hortons on the way out of town, & there was a Salvation Army in the plaza, so we stopped in & looked around. I got a couple pairs of scissors & Sal got a new shirt, then we took off

My plan was to drive to Campbellford & spend the night there, but I got lost at Hastings & we went the wrong way. I didn't even notice it until we were almost at Keene, & I was pretty upset about my mistake (although I also hadn't eaten yet, so I was more moody than normal). We stopped in Keene because Sal saw a thrift store, & as luck would have it, it was only open on Thursdays & Saturdays, & only from noon to 3 (it was around 2:15 on Saturday when we stopped)
So we looked around, & it was a really cheap store - Sal got 2 shirts & I got a hat, all for $4

There was a BBQ restaurant right across the road, so we went over because it smelled amazing. We split the Carnivore sampler, which included pulled pork, beef brisket, sausage, & ribs, & we also got a couple salads. I think it was the best meat I'd EVER eaten!

We ended up going around the lake, because it was either go around or go back to Hastings & try again. We ended up getting to Campbellford around 5, so we stayed the night there, & went to the Meyersburg flea market the next day. I spent $40, on meat & preserves. Can't take me anywhere XD

& then we came home again. It was freaking AWESOME, & I really missed going on random weekend trips

So I wrote a comic....

It’s got boobs, but it’s artistic nudity, not porn or erotica.

Also, you’ll need a special program to open it - Comic Book Reader. It’s free, & it’s an awesome program that I recommend if you’re interested in comics

(of course, if you don’t want to download a program just to read it, you can always change the .cbr to .zip & just extract it, it’s a bunch of jpgs)

I entered the Imockery secret santa again this year. Although it didn't quite out-do my gift from last year (old Day Of The Tentacle poster), it came close, & was chock full o' awesome

Here's what I posted on the forums about what I got (I want to put it here because I think I'm frickin' hilarious, & so should you)

& seeing that the only other things I'm waiting for are hair dye or candy canes, I figured this had to be my Secret Santa package! YAY
(either that, or the amount I paid for shipping for the hair dye actually WAS a bargain....)

Someone down there likes me, as I got Rog as my Secret Santa XD
(& I'm not talking about in hell - I'm in Canada, so most of you people live south of me)

I didn't even wait 10 minutes before tearing into this, like a fat kid with a box of turtles. & by fat kid, I mean me. & by box of turtles, I mean box of turtles.

I either got an unpublished novel, or some crazy person's manifesto. Maybe both. But the sweet words are for MY EYES ONLY!

... after reading the letter, I have learned that if I don't comply & show myself using everything in the box, my bank account information will be released to the world (meh), & I will have my forum name changed to 'Paris Hilton's #1 Fan'

After all, what's Christmas without any threats of humiliation?
So, let's get this party started!!!

Domo seems to know how to party (he IS a superior lover after all, according to his button)
I'll be putting these lights up later tonight when my fiance gets home from work. & in a year & a half when we leave this apartment & are living in our awesome campervan, they'll be coming with us
(I'm actually being serious here, they are going to look AWESOME in our van! I'd put them up in there now, but I'm worried about the cold making them brittle)

Here's an overview of what I have to work with:

I'm going to have a fun time trying to play that Mars Attack game - my laptop doesn't even have a freaking CD drive, I have no idea where I'm going to find a floppy drive :P
(& DAT SYSTEM REQUIREMENT! OMG! {Windows 3.1 & 2 megs of ram})

I'll be using that reusable bag everytime I do groceries. Each time, it'll save me 3 cents because of the store I go to. It's the gift that keeps on giving! :D

My fiance grabbed up the 'tickle my pickle' button, because he had a great idea for it.... well, great according to him...

(I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm really not. ENJOY THE VISUALS!!!!)

I also let him have one of the shiny stickers for his shiny Yu-Gi-Oh binder, & I stuck the other one on PhishPoop (my laptop)

Next, I had to get into the foodstuffs. Despite the warning on the side of the package AND the fact that Rog mentioned not swallowing the egg, I figured that meant I should swallow it.
Down the hatch

My new shirt seems to be very appropriate for this situation

It got stuck in my throat, so I guess I'll have to wait a few days until it dissolves. I'll take some more pictures once it hatches & tears it's way out of my throat.

Since I needed something to wash that egg down, I HAD to try this tea (& not just because I was threatened with total humiliation if I didn't).
I have this thing about eggnog flavoured stuff. I'm one of the few people who remembers eggnog flavoured candy canes. You remember me mentioning waiting for candy canes in the mail? Yeah, I spent $16 to buy some stupid gourmet eggnog flavoured candy canes recently. But we're not talking about that, we're talking about this tea

It's delicious! It actually tastes like eggnog & tea (which go together much better than I would have thought). I had high expectations from Bigelow, & once again they didn't let me down :D

I also opened the stickers, but they weren't very tasty

The gum wasn't bad though, but what's with wrapping it in plastic??? It didn't have that wonderful cardboard flavour that I remember from my childhood.

So, expect some more pictures from me once I manage to incubate the dinosaur in my throat long enough for it to hatch. Like most women, I'm willing to sacrifice my body for the good of our species (although unlike most women, I think our species sucks & would love to see it get torn to shreds by dinosaurs)

Yay free stuff

I finally got accepted to a campaign on BzzAgent.com (I signed up about a year ago) & it was for Burt's Bees Intense Hydration

Now, I love Burt's Bees already, so you can just imagine how excited I was to get some free Burt's Bees stuff.
They sent me some of the Intense Hydration line, & although I've been forgetting to use the night cream every night, I've used it about 5 nights & I already notice a difference in my skin. Before I started, I had a dry patch of skin right between my eyebrows. Not a big deal, but it would flake on my glasses & my OCD would make me have to clean them often.
Well, now that I've been using the cream, the dry patch is almost completely gone (it's still there a little bit, in my eyebrows, but not between them)
& it smells amazing! I don't know what Cleary Sage is, but it smells really pretty without being overpowering :D

You guys know how cheap I am - I would completely buy this stuff. The jar I got is going to last FOREVER - I've only used about half a tablespoon worth of cream so far (& I was trying it on my feet as well, but that didn't work as I had hoped - it's face cream, I can't hold it against them ;D)

well, uh, this is awkward

so, y'see Livejournal... I just don't really have time for you anymore.

I know you've always been there for me, well besides the downtimes, & everyone else is abandoning you it seems... but I'm just not as interested in you as I used to be

I'll still come back & see how you're doing every now & again (heck, every day), but I feel we've grown apart.

*ahem* Seriously though, it seems like LJ is dying (well, except for the communities, some of them are still pretty active). I rarely get more than 5 new posts to read when I check my friends page. Which means that, because most of the people I consider to be friends I talk to other places (Facebook mostly), I just haven't felt any real desire to post to LJ when I could just post to Facebook.

I'm still going to be updating here... & I'll probably update more when we're on the road (I want to try to keep a travel journal pretty much everywhere, so it's convenient for whoever wants to read it)
but if you want to hear about my day-to-day ramblings, Facebook is a really good place for that
& I've actually started to post things to my tumblr (I don't draw enough art to keep it focused solely on my art)

I'm not going to delete my journal. It's just mostly fallen into disuse (unless I need to bitch semi-privately, because I don't have anywhere else to do that), & I like providing options

So apparently there's going to be a hurricane hitting the US on Tuesday
(yeah, I know, old news. I don't pay attention to the weather & I live in Canada)

But I live a few hours away from New York, which means that I might actually be affected by the weather. Which means I may be without internet for a few days (THE HORROR)

I'm not overly worried, but I want to make sure that everyone knows I'll be safe, & not to worry :)
